Hello-
Hope you guys are having a good week. I was just curious what you both are doing your lesson plan on so that I do not end up doing something similar. The directions said that no two group members can do the same thing. I have had a busy week and was going to write my lesson this weekend so if you could try to get back to me before then if you have already started working on something that would be great otherwise I will just post what I end up doing. Thanks!

Hey Dana.
ReplyDeleteI'm in the same boat with the busy week. :) So far, I haven't decided on anything. Go ahead and choose away. Did I read the directions correctly when it said it had to be secondary ed?
Katie
The Module directions say elementary ed, and Kelsey's announcement said secondary ed, so I'm going with elementary. Have either of you found anything?
ReplyDeleteHey guys,
ReplyDeleteI am just getting started this morning. Not sure if I am reading right or not but are we supposed to create these lessons based on the what we did last week? I was thinking about maybe doing the beginning stages, I could have them research different types of plants that are in michigan and the needs of plants.
For my lesson I am going to have the students research weather patterns and growing seasons of Arizona and Michigan. They can compare climate difference and how this can effect the ways in which plants grow. This will help them see why certain plants are native to certain areas.
ReplyDeleteAngelina- I was not entirely sure what your lesson was going to include hopefully this will complement it since students will be able to see why the plants in your lesson do grow in Michigan. I am going to start working on it tonight but I will not post it until tomorrow night so if you have any issues with it just let me know.
Hey ladies!
ReplyDeleteI've already talked to Dana, so I know what she's doing for sure. Angelina, along with the different plants in MI, you are doing the needs of plants--are you keeping it basic, like the plants need sun, water, nutrients from soil, and air? I wasn't sure what all you included in the beginning stages. If that was it, this is what I had in mind:
I am thinking about having the students learn the process of setting up the garden, the tools they will need, and how exactly to plant the seeds. It would work well with both of your lessons, yet stay far enough away so that they don't overlap. What do you think?
Katie
Both of your ideas sound good to me. I am just keeping it basic for my lesson. I created a hot list and they can find all of the information on it. The students will find the basic needs of plants- air, water, sunlight, soil. I am also having them draw and explain a plants life cycle, just 4 simple stages and then I linked the MI DNR web page that has lists of MI plants, they will pretty much just be able to look through the photos and i am not sure exactly what i am going to have them do with that yet. If you have any more questions just let me know.
